The ORA Conference is an annual gathering of the legal departments of Ontario regulatory authorities and other senior managers and Registrars for educational programming and networking. Attended by approximately 200 delegates, the conference hosts professionalism and substantive administrative and regulatory law programming to enable us to better carry out our responsibilities as modern regulators.
10 years ago, our conference started with the idea of bringing together our legal departments to share experiences and expertise and to broaden our own perspectives and competence through learning from other regulators that do what we do in other sectors and professions. The conference has since blossomed into the premier annual event that brings together legal professionals from a diverse cross-section of regulators that serve the public interest. These are administrative authorities that enforce consumer protection and public safety laws and other organizations with a similar mandate, including:
Our keynote addresses have been delivered by Supreme Court of Canada and Court of Appeal Justices, Attorney Generals and other leaders from the legal and political communities. Our distinguished speakers and panelists bring insights and perspectives from regulatory, private practice, business, not-for-profit and public service spheres. The two in-person days of the conference provide a wonderful opportunity to get to know and rekindle friendships and professional relationships with colleagues at other organizations.
